Dear University of Michigan Club of Greater Northville member, You more than anyone else, understand that "Go Blue" is not just another color. While it may inspire memories of victories on the playing field and stories of games won and lost, you know that it embodies so much more.
The U-M Club of Greater Northville is committed to providing students in our local area with these same opportunites and experiences. But we need your help to continue to bring the best and the brightest to the University. Today, as I am sure you are aware, the cost of college tuition is continually on the rise. It is almost impossible to work one's way through college anymore. Many students end up taking on enormous amounts of debt or they go to other schools where the financial aid package covers more than the cost. But you can do something to help. Your tax-deductible contribution to our scholarship fund will allow us to continue to provide scholarships to local students to send them off to experience all that "Go Blue" has to offer. One hundred percent of your contribution goes directly into the student's account; there is no overhead cost. Thank you in advance for your contribution. If you have any questions, please contact Ed Rennell at (248)471-5838 or by email at erennell@umich.edu. GO BLUE!! Edwin J. Please read on for a short history of the Club Scholarship Program. Since its inception in July, 1990, the U-M Club of Northville (now the U-M club of Greater Northville) has considered the awarding of scholarships to area students who will be attending the Univeristy of Michigan one of its highest priorities. In the early days of the Club, a scholarship was awarded to high school seniors from Northvbille High Schoool. This was very soon expanded to include students from Novi High School and one transfer student from Schoolcraft College in Livonia. After several years, the number of scholarships offered to students from Northville and Novi was increased...and Schoolcraft College would no longer be a part of our program. On July 1, 2000, the Alumni Association underwant a major reorganization, greatly expanding the geographic responsibilities of the Greater Northville Club. Over the past fourteen years, the Club has aided almost ninety students with a total of almost $70,000. The Club is currently exploring the means and ways to expand our scholarship program to include many more of the high school students living within our new geographic boundaries of responsibility.
